So I thought that the Ninth Circuit's holding that the Second Amendment binds state and local governments (via the Fourteenth Amendment) was a pretty big deal. It was the first federal court of appeals decision to so hold. If followed, it would invalidate the Chicago handgun ban, plus perhaps some other broad state and local gun restrictions, such as New York City's ban on all gun ownership by 18-to-20-year-olds. And it might well trigger Supreme Court consideration of the issue, since there's now a split between the Second and Ninth Circuits on the issue.And yet, the newspapers remain confounded regarding their failure to attract new readership; truly, there is no saving that which does not wish to save itself.
But here's the odd thing: I couldn't find any articles about this in the New York Times, the L.A. Times, the Chicago Tribune, or the Washington Post. (I searched for second amendment or bear arms or nordyke or gun show.) There was early coverage on CNN and in the San Francisco Chronicle, but nothing else in any newspapers in the NEWS;MAJPAP file on LEXIS. Am I missing some stories that just didn't happen to use the keywords I searched for? Or is the court decision just not worth even a brief mention?

I get the black and white (newspaper) and red (commie) all over...but yellow? Is that a reference to cowardice?
The MSM, through the act of deciding what is newsworthy or not, is in the business of spinning the news toward their own political biases. In effect, they are conducting the kind of information warfare that said MSM went agog over a couple years ago over a Pentagon program to craft news releases in order to shape the news.
Those of us with eyes see this. Which is why, when the paper becomes a platform filled with op-ed and re-by-lined stories off the AP wire (plagiarism in my book), there's no reason to read.
Yellow, in reference to what journalism has become but was once an insult to the integrity of the paper. It might seem synonymous with "red", but I see it as a more inclusive term for the overwhelming amount of fetid filth that makes it to print.
The days where newspapers were watch-dogs are dead and gone, as the papers should be; they have outlived their purpose.
Yeah, they're not watchdogs anymore. They've taken this Fourth Estate stuff way too seriously. They don't even bother hiding the agenda they're pushing...
I breathlessly await the deployment of federal troops to New York and California to enforce the civil rights of the people there.
Oh, my bad; I forgot that federal troops only enforce stuff in red states.
