Recently, the Swiss Parliament asked a panel of philosophers, lawyers, geneticists and theologians to determine the meaning of dignity when it pertains to plants.
Lo and Behold, the team published a treatise on “the moral consideration of plants for their own sake.” The treatise established that vegetation has innate value and that it is morally wrong to partake in activities such as the “decapitation of wildflowers at the roadside without rational reason.”
I wonder if they've banned the importation and development of bonsai yet. Surely, it's the horticultural equivalent of foot-binding, a cruel and unusual practice to say the least.
On the bright side, either the law will be ignored, nullified, or Switzerland will be ripe for resettling within a few months.

Well, France and England and the USA are being resettled as we speak.
Perhaps the Swiss are next.
I've got my eye on the Bahamas, just as soon as I can afford to retire there.
I don't doubt that the mental pandemic is spreading to Switzerland; the article is sufficient evidence that Gaia-worship is becoming firmly embedded in the philosophies of the bureaucrats there. I suppose I just expected more from them than this failure.
As for viable retreats, I'm more of a northern-clime critter. The Bahamas might be a tad too warm. I think I will also require some sort of permaculture and/or small-scale agriculture, like EW seems to be planning.
I'm open to ideas at this point. Bright idea alpha is the panhandle area of Idaho; while still in the USSA, the prevailing local attitude seems to be "Scruduhgubbamuh!", and it's mostly out of the way for natural and man-made disasters, even the Yellowstone Caldera fallout, should that rear its ugly head.

Close by is the great state of Wyo, my home, where the guns and the cows outnumber the people.

Forgot to warn you about the wind. Esp on the eastern slope. But then again, that keeps the rifraff out.

Too arid? I had trouble in Virginia when I visited during summer a number of years ago, as I do not have gills. Pretty country out there, though. :)
Wind is a good thing... Wind generators are something I'm looking at installing anyway. I think I'd have to do eastern-slope anyway, flat land bothers me.
And I've had it up to my eyeballs with riff-raff.

Well, as long as Saskatchewan gets sunshine, I'd think about it. The government's stance on firearms, though... That's an immediate disqualification.
